Privacy Policy

Survival Prep Guide (survivalprep.guide) is a curated directory of survival and preparedness books. This policy says what information we collect, why we collect it, and how to reach us.

You can browse the directory without an account. An account is only for ratings and reviews.

1. Information we collect

Account. If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password. We also store confirmation, password-reset, and sign-in records (including sign-in time and IP address). We do not store your password in plain text.

Signup location. When you register, we record the IP address of that request. We may also store an approximate city and country derived from that IP. We use this to operate and protect the site, not to build a marketing profile.

Reviews. If you rate a book, we store the rating, the review text, and the date. Visible reviews appear on the book page. We do not show your email address next to the review. Links in review text are removed.

Email notices. If you submit an email for new-title notices, we use that address only to send those notices. Do not submit an email unless you want those messages.

Technical data. Our host and Cloudflare process request data needed to deliver and protect the site: IP address, browser type, and pages requested. Sign-in, sign-up, and password-reset forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check. Account emails (confirmation, password reset) are sent through Amazon SES.

Amazon clicks. “Buy the book” opens an Amazon search. Amazon, not Survival Prep Guide, sets any Amazon cookie and handles the purchase. See Amazon’s privacy notice for that data.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not currently run a third-party analytics product on the public site. If we add one, we will update this policy.

2. How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Run the directory, accounts, and reviews
• Confirm your email and reset your password
• Reduce abuse, spam, and automated sign-ups
• Send notices you asked for
• Keep the site secure and available

We do not use your account data to sell advertising.

3. Sharing

We share information only as needed to run the site:

• Amazon — when you leave for a book search. We participate in the Amazon Associates program and may earn a commission. Amazon’s terms and privacy notice apply on Amazon.
• Infrastructure providers — hosting, Cloudflare (delivery, security, and bot checks), email delivery (Amazon SES), and file storage (Cloudflare R2) for images such as book covers.
• Law or safety — if we must disclose information to comply with law, or to investigate abuse.

We do not give your email list to other publishers.

4. Cookies

We use cookies that the site needs to work:

• A session cookie so you stay signed in
• A “remember me” cookie if you choose it
• A security cookie that protects forms from cross-site requests

We do not use cookies to sell ads.

5. How long we keep it

We keep account and review data while the account exists, and as long as we need it to operate the directory, prevent abuse, and meet legal duties. You can ask us to delete your account. Visible reviews are public content; we may keep a review if it is needed as a record, or hide it if it breaks the Terms of Service.

6. Your requests

Email support@survivalprep.guide to:

• Ask what account data we hold
• Correct your email
• Delete your account
• Stop email notices

If a local privacy law gives you rights we cannot waive, those rights still apply.

7. Children

The directory is not for children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after that date means you accept the updated policy.
